Axelspace Raises $44M in Series D Funding

Axelspace, a Tokyo, Japan-based micro-satellites technology company, raised $44M in Series D funding.

Backers included Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, SMBC Venture Capital Management Co., Global Brain Corporation, Mitsui Fudosan, Global Brain Corporation, EPSON X Investment Corporation, Keio Innovation Initiative, Tokyo University of Science Innovation Capital, The Nanto Bank, and The Seibu Shinkin Bank.

The company intends to use the funds to expand operations and its development efforts.

Led by Yuya Nakamura, President and CEO, Axelspace is a provider of micro-satellites technology with the vision “Space within Your Reach”. It has developed and operated 9 satellites so far.

The company offers:

  • Earth Observation Platform “AxelGlobe” with 5-satellite constellation
  • One stop service for microsatellites “AxelLiner”. AxelGlobe captures anywhere on Earth once in a few days.

The company is going to launch “Pyxis,” the first demonstration microsatellites of AxelLiner 1Q of 2024.
