Orbem, a Munich, Germany-based AI-powered MRI technology company, raised EUR30M in Series A funding.

The round was led by 83North, with participation from La Famiglia, The Venture Collective, Possible Ventures, and Dr. Rüdiger Schmidt, Hanno Renner, Roman Schumacher, Jonas Rieke, Rubin Ritter, Michael Wax, Erik Muttersbach,  Michael Ardelt, Dr. Alexander Hüttenbrink, Oliver Trinchera, and Bastian Nominacher.

The company intends to use the funds to expand operations and its business reach.

Led by Dr. Pedro Gómez, CEO, Orbem drives AI-powered imaging by combining rapid magnetic resonance imaging with learning. With its AI innovation for scanning biological samples, the company aims to work with food, construction, and health industries, and has already launched a solution that contributes to sustainability in the poultry industry. Orbem’s product, driven by AI-powered MRI technology, has the capability to scan a range of biological samples, encompassing food products like eggs and nuts, various plant species, construction materials such as timber, and even the human body.

The Series A round follows the launch of Orbem Genus Focus for in-ovo sexing, a product that enables hatcheries to determine the sex of an egg in a completely contactless and non-invasive manner, delivering results in just one second per egg.
