Mendaera Raises $24M in Series A Funding

Mendaera, a San Mateo, CA-based company which specializes in in healthcare robotics, raised $24M in Series A funding.

The round was led by Lux Capital, with participation from Founders Fund, Operator Partners, and Allen & Company, and Intuitive Surgical and Auris Health founder Dr. Fred Moll and former U.S. Senator Bob Kerrey.

The company intends to use the funds to accelerate growth of the organization, as well as volume manufacturing for product launch.

Led by CEO Josh DeFonzo, Mendaera provides a platform that combines real-time imaging, robotics, and artificial intelligence (AI) to enable precise and consistent intervention. In addition, the company is building an ecosystem of imaging and instrumentation partners to expedite minimally invasive care.

Mendaera has completed research and design of its collaborative robotic system, and is now focused on completing development and obtaining FDA clearance.
