OwnBackup, an Englewood Cliffs, N.J.-based cloud data protection platform, raised $167.5m in Series D funding.

The round was co-led by Insight Partners, Salesforce Ventures, and Sapphire Ventures, with participation from existing investors Innovation Endeavors, Vertex Ventures, and Oryzn Capital.

The company intends to use the funds to extend the platform and expand operations and its business reach.

Led by Sam Gutmann, CEO, OwnBackup is a cloud-to-cloud backup and restore platform, providing secure, automated, daily backups of SaaS and PaaS data, as well as data compare and restore tools for disaster recovery. The company serves nearly 3,000 businesses worldwide across every industry, such as AECOM, Aston Martin, Ciena, Delivery Hero, Guidewire Software, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Medtronic, Navy Federal Credit Union, Singapore Economic Development Board, and the University of Miami to protect critical cloud data, from data loss and corruption caused by human errors, malicious intent, integration errors, and rogue applications. Built for security and privacy, OwnBackup exceeds the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) requirements for backed-up data.

OwnBackup has R&D, support, and other functions in Tel Aviv and London.
