Blue Coat Systems, Inc., a Sunnyvale, CA-based enterprise security platform provider, is to acquire Elastica, Inc., a San Jose, CA-based cloud application security platform, for $280m.
The acquisition of Elastica allows Blue Coat to offer a global security platform that provides visibility, control and data-level security across cloud, on premise and hybrid cloud environments.
Led by Rehan Jalil, CEO and founder, Elastica provides CloudSOC™, which enables threat scoring powered by machine learning, user and end-point behavior modeling, natural language-based cloud DLP, and analysis with remediation in a cloud application SOC. It also features complete risk analysis and policy management for sanctioned cloud and “shadow IT” applications to ensure safe cloud usage.
Acquired by Bain Capital in March 2015, Blue Coat is a leader in advanced enterprise security, protecting 15,000 organizations every day, including 88 of the 100 largest global companies.
