Ambienta SGR, a Milan, Italy-based private equity fund specialized in environmental investments in the areas of resource efficiency and pollution control, sold its portfolio company Envirogen Group, formerly Amplio Filtration Group, to a syndicate of investors led by UK fund manager Promethean Investments LLP.
The amount of the deal was not disclosed. Ambienta’s divestment came four years after its initial €16.1m investment, executed through Ambienta I, to support the growth of a scalable international platform in water treatment solutions, focused on well defined verticals.
Established in 2009 by Riccardo Segat and Andrea Davi – who acted as CEO, Envirogen is a UK-based mid-sized international provider of environmental and process solutions for the treatment of water, wastewater, vapour emissions and material recovery, with operations in Europe and North America.
The company has sales of €50m and €6.5ml EBITDA in 2015.
