Pivot3, an Austin, Texas-based supplier of hyper-converged infrastructure, closed a $12m funding round.
The round was led by new investor S3 Ventures with participation from current investors InterWest Partners and Mesirow Financial. In conjunction with the funding, Brian R. Smith, Managing Director, S3 Ventures, joined Pivot3’s Board of Directors.
The company intends to use the funds for additional product development and operations growth.
Founded in 2003 and led by Ron Nash, CEO, Pivot3 provides purpose-built, hyper-converged infrastructure appliances for the video surveillance, VDI and data center markets. The round followed the recent release of Pivot3 vSTAC OS 6.5, a comprehensive update to the operating system of its vSTAC suite of technologies.
The company’s products are used in the public sector, healthcare, transportation, gaming, education and retail vertical segments. It has over 1,000 customers across the globe.
Pivot3 also added Mike Dansby as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.
