Solo, a developer of a system for stores to create a personalized web page to accept payments via credit cards with no POS or e-commerce needed, has just won InnovAction Lab 2014, the Italian leading learning initiative which allows participants to transform their business ideas into a startup and pitch to investors.
The final took place today in Rome.
Second place for Slapped, an Instagram-like app that allows users to launch any social challenge. Lawe, a platform to find an expert lawyer starting from the description of the issue to solve, reached the third place. Filo, a developer of a bluetooth device and an app to monitor children, things, and pets and receive alerts, got the fourth place.
Solo and Slapped won a journey in New York to know the American startup ecosystem while Lawe and Filo will go to Tel Aviv.
Others projects pitching to a crowd of approximately 100 investors included: DigiDoh, an interactive game for kids; Nutrime, an app to connect to certified nutritionists; Tickete, an app that offers discounts and promotions to people who take pictures of their bills; YourSmartADV, a distributor of ads to smartphone allowing users to get discounts on their phone bill, Zhips, a healthy snack alternative to french fries, Tutored: a private school tutoring service.
All the teams are now seeking capital to advance their projects.
Founded by entrepreneur and investor Augusto Coppola and supported by JP Morgan Chase Foundation, Startup Revolutionary Road (Microsoft Italia), Fondazione Cariplo, Fondazione Filarete, and World Wide Rome, InnovAction Lab has reached its fourth edition. The final of the next edition will take place during the World Wide Web Conference, the applied computer science event, in Florence, from May 18-22 of 2015.
