Confer, a Waltham, MA-based provider of endpoint security via an open, threat-based, collaborative platform, raised $8m in Series A funding.
Backers included Matrix Partners and North Bridge Venture Partners.
The company intends to use the funds to further product development and expansion of its marketing and sales operations.
Co-founded by CEO Mark Quinlivan, Chief Technology Officer Jeff Kraemer, and Vice President of Products Paul Morville, Confer has developed a cyberthreat prevention network that secures servers, laptops and mobile devices from cyberattacks. It allows companies to collect and share threat intelligence and have access to the behavior and intent of attackers.
Confer runs on Microsoft Windows, Android and Apple Macintosh-based systems.
Trials of the solution are currently underway at enterprises in the finance, defense, pharmaceutical and information technology industries.
