Last year, it raised $12m in a Series B round (read here).
The acquisition of Bluefin Labs, with their data science capabilities and social TV expertise reflects the Twitter commitment to the social TV market and will help the company create innovative new ad products and consumer experiences in the intersection of its microblogging platform and TV. The deal builds on the partnership with Nielsen announced in December to develop the Nielsen Twitter TV Rating.
Follwing the deal, Bluefin’s product suite will not be sold beyond the existing contracts. Their core team will remain based in Cambridge, MA.
