Apteki Gemini, a Gdańsk, Poland-based pharmacy company, has been acquired by an affiliate of Warburg Pincus, a global private equity firm.
The deal, whose amount was not disclosed, will support Gemini in its growth plan. The company, which currently operates predominantly in Northern Poland, is planning to expand its operations across the country.
Founded in 1990 and led by Aleksandra Kuźniak, Gemini operates a physical chain of 31 pharmacy stores in Northern Poland offering low prices drugs, as well as a nationwide online business, which – established in 2012 – sells a wide range of OTC and consumer products to patients and consumers nationwide.
The transaction is still subject to customary closing conditions, including receipt of regulatory and thirdparty consents.
