Betapond Raises €2M in Funding

Betapond, a Waterford, Ireland-based provider of Facebook technology solutions for global brands in retail, consumer goods and tourism, raised €2m in funding.

The round was led by The Ulster Bank Diageo Venture Fund, managed by Investec Ventures, with participation from Delta Partners (Delta Equity Fund III Ltd Partnership) and Irrus Investments. In conjunction with the funding, Leo Hamill of the Ulster Bank Diageo Venture Fund will join the board of Betapond.

The company intends to use the funds to accelerate development of its social commerce offering to retailers.

Founded by CEO Declan Kennedy, Conor Ryan and Peter Elger in 2009, Betapond provides solutions for global brands to build social applications and marketing campaigns that inspire their consumers to share stories of real world experiences in social media.

Customers include Unilever, Marks & Spencer, Tourism Ireland, Intel, Dove, VisitBritain, Boylesports, The Met Office and Paddy Power, among others.
The company, a Facebook Preferred Marketing Developer,  has offices in London, Dublin and San Jose.
