GENWI, a Los Altos, CA-based cloud publishing platform for mobile devices, has raised $2m in funding.

Backers include FLOODGATE and Elevation Partners.

Founded in 2010 by PJ Gurumohan, CEO, Rahul Patel, CTO, and Raju Sagiraju, Executive Director, GENWI (Generation Wireless) provides a cloud-based platform, purpose-built for mobile, that helps publishers deliver both native and HTML5 apps onto both smart phones and tablets.
It allows:
- editors to manage content aggregation and creation, build content models, and curate content–all independent of the design.
- designers to create and manage navigation and design apps using HTML5, CSS, and Javascript.
Today, over 1,500 apps are powered by GENWI including those from Conde Nast, The Hollywood Reporter, IndiaTimes, Forbes, and PBS Kids.
