Transphorm Inc., a Goleta, CA-based company that is developing an efficient and compact power conversion technology, has completed a $25m Series D financing.
Investors include Quantum Strategic Partners and existing backers Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Google Ventures, Foundation Capital and Lux Capital.
This investment brings the total amount raised by the company to date to $63m.
Transphorm plans to use the funds to grow its facilities, accelerate product development, and expand marketing efforts.
Launched in February 2011 and led by CEO Umesh Mishra, the company uses its Gallium Nitride (GaN) based power conversion modules to reduce power waste and simplify the design and manufacturing of a wide variety of electrical systems and devices, including motor drives, power supplies and inverters for solar panels and electric vehicles.
