Shader, a San Francisco, CA-based provider of an AI-powered real-time camera app, raised $580K in funding.
Backers included Betaworks, Greycroft, Differential Ventures, Mozilla Ventures, and On Deck.
The company intends to use the funds to expand operations and development efforts.
Founded in 2022 by Darya Sesitskaya, Shader has built an AI-powered real-time camera app that integrates text-to-AR effects without requiring coding skills. It transforms self-expression on social media, making it easy for everyone to create custom AI effects in seconds and opening up new possibilities for 400 million creators. The cross-platform functionality of the app allows users to share created effects simultaneously on Instagram, TikTok, and Snapchat.
Commenting on the news, Darya Sesitskaya said: “Our mission is to make AR/AI effects accessible to everyone, empowering users to easily create personalized content. Shader is expanding into various social face filters, including background, clothes, and hair, prioritizing user-friendly design principles to unlock new possibilities for the 400 million creators on social media. In the near future, we also plan to implement the ability to create voice-to-AR effects and 3D background replacements.“
