Bench IQ, a Toronto, Canada-based AI-powered legal technology company, raised $2.1M in funding.

The round was led by Maple and Haystack, with participation from Jason Boehmig, Qasar Younis, Cooley, Fenwick, Wilson Sonsini, along with partners at Kirkland & Ellis, Inovia Capital, Soma Capital, Roach Capital, Alumni Ventures, Boon Fund, Andrew Arruda (CEO, Flexpa), Zain Manji, Arif Bhanji, Nivrith Sekhar, and Ronald Gosio, alongside additional angel investors.

The company intends to use the funds to expand operations and its business reach.

Founded by CEO Jimoh Ovbiagele, CTO Maxim Isakov and Jeffrey Gettleman, Bench IQ offers AI-enhanced legal research tools, enabling lawyers to gain insights into judges’ rulings in order to hone their legal arguments and strategies. By leveraging the latest advancements in Large Language Models (LLMs), the company has compiled and is exploiting a new legal dataset. This dataset provides comprehensive insights into the decision-making patterns of judges, covering 100% of their rulings.
