Jala Raises US$13.1M in Series A Funding

Jala, a Yogyakarta, Indonesia-based digital enabler for the shrimp industry, raised US$13.3M in Series A funding.

The round was led by Intudo Ventures, with participation from Sinar Mas Digital Ventures (SMDV), and existing investors Mirova and Meloy Fund (Deliberate Capital). 

The company intends to use the funds to scale up its operations across key regions of Indonesia, including Sumatera, Sulawesi, and Nusa Tenggara.

Founded in 2017, Jala is a digital ecosystem enabler for the shrimp industry value chain, providing comprehensive end-to-end solutions to streamline the shrimp farming process—improving productivity, efficiency, and sustainability. It provides farmers with a suite of advanced technology services, including in-depth aquaculture analysis built off real-time data and connected equipment, as well as access to farm assistance, farm financing, high quality supplies and inputs, and marketplace services to bring harvest to market.

Used by over 20,000 users through its flagship Jala App, the system has monitored over 15,700 tons of shrimp across more than 35,300 ponds. Additionally, more than 9,900 tons of shrimp have been harvested with its assistance.
