OrganOx Raises £25M Growth Funding Round

OrganOx, an Oxford, UK-based medical device company, raised £25M in Growth funding.

The round was led by Lauxera Capital Partners.

The company intends to use the funds to expand its commercial footprint, build new manufacturing facilities, and conduct a broad array of post-market clinical evaluations.

Founded in 2008 by two renowned Oxford University Professors, Peter Friend (Professor of Surgery) and Constantin Coussios (Professor of Biomedical Engineering), and led by Craig Marshall, CEO, OrganOx specializes in normothermic machine perfusion. Its metra uses proprietary NMP technology to preserve donor livers in a functioning state for up to 24 hours prior to transplant. metra is an automated NMP device that enables continuous monitoring and evaluation of the liver, empowering surgeons to make evidence-based decisions on whether to transplant a donor organ, enabling viability testing and transplant of previously declined organs. It is commercially available in Europe (CE Mark) and the United States.

Since inception, the company’s Normothermic Machine Perfusion (NMP) technology has supported over 2,500 liver transplants worldwide.
