ElevenLabs, a London, UK-based voice technology research company, raised $19M in Series A funding.

The round was led by Nat Friedman, Daniel Gross, and Andreessen Horowitz with participation from Credo Ventures, Concept Ventures, and angel investors including Mike Krieger, Brendan Iribe, Mustafa Suleyman, Aravind Srinivas, Guillermo Rauch, Tim O’Reilly, Creator Ventures and SV Angel. Andreessen Horowitz is taking a board seat.

The company intends to use the funds to continue its voice AI research and product deployment.

Founded by Mati Staniszewski (CEO) and Piotr Dabkowski (CTO), ElevenLabs is a voice technology research company developing text-to-speech software for publishers and creators. Its tools can turn any text into speech using synthetic voices, cloned voices, or by creating entirely new artificial voices that can be tailored according to gender, age, and accent preferences. The company launched its Beta platform in January 2023. Since launch, ElevenLabs has amassed over 1 million registered users who have generated over 10 years worth of audio content. The platform has already been embraced across multiple creative verticals and sectors, from independent authors creating audiobooks, developers voicing characters in video games, supporting the visually impaired to access online written content, and powering the world’s first AI radio channel.

In response to user demand, ElevenLabs is also launching Projects – available now for early access – a production workflow for editing and creating dynamic, long-form spoken content. In addition, the company launched a range of B2B partnerships with audiobook publishers Storytel, content creator platform TheSoul Publishing and the media platform MNTN.
