Skydio Raises $230M in Series E Funding

Skydio, a San Mateo, CA-based U.S. drone manufacturer, raised $230M in Series E funding with a current valuation of over $2.2 Billion.

The round, which brought total funding to $562M, was led by Linse Capital, with participation from Andreessen Horowitz, Next47, IVP, DoCoMo, NVIDIA, Walton Family Foundation and UP.Partners, as well as new backers Hercules Capital and Axon.

The company intends to use the funds to accelerate growth, expand operations and its business reach.

Founded in 2014 and led by CEO Adam Bry, Skydio leverages AI to create intelligent flying machines for use by consumers, enterprises, and government customers. The company designs, assembles, and supports its products in the U.S. from its headquarters in San Mateo, CA, and manufacturing facilities in Hayward, CA. Its drones are now used by every branch of the U.S. Department of Defense, by U.S. State Departments of Transportation and by public safety agencies in 47 states. Additionally, the products are used by 1,200 enterprise organizations to automate complex inspection tasks and get situational awareness in life and death situations.

The funding and follows the announcement of Skydio Dock and Skydio Dock Lite, powered by Skydio’s new Remote Ops software, which enable drones to be flown without an operator on site at all. The company also recently launched Regulatory Services, which are beginning to break through the Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) barrier with approvals for customers to operate Skydio drones beyond line of sight, including fully remote operations.
