Racket, a Los Angeles, CA-based social audio app, raised $3M in pre-seed funding.

Backers included Greycroft, Foundation Capital, LightShed Ventures, Active Capital, Loup Ventures and Tribe Capital and angel investors LaurDIY, Jason Calacanis Steve Schlafman, Hiten Shah (Nira), Waseem Daher (Pilot), Immad Akhund (Mercury), Ryan Neu (Vendr), Dharmesh Shah (Hubspot), Alex McCaw (Clearbit), Chris Messina, Ryan Dawidjan, Adam Lurie, Christian Gammil, Scott Manson (Scooter Braun Projects) and more.

The company intends to use the funds to expand engineering, design, and trust/safety resources.

Led by CEO Austin Petersmith, Racket lets anyone record their voice and share it with the world. It’s an audio experience that record thoughts and stories through the voice. “Rackets,” capped at 99 seconds, are created using an innovative set of lightweight editing tools.
