Block Renovation Raises $40M in Funding

Block Renovation

Block Renovation, a NYC-based renovation platform that uses technology to simplify and improve home renovations, raised $40m in funding.

The round was led by Giant Ventures with participation from NEA, Morningside, Lerer Hippeau, and Obvious Ventures.

The company, which has raised $54M in venture funding to date, intends to use the funds to continue to expand operations and its business reach.

Led by co-founders T. Luke Sherwin and Koda Wang, as well as Chief Operating Officer, Scott Tracy-Inglis, Block is a renovation platform that uses technology to simplify and improve home renovations. The platform brings designers, contractors, and vendors together to create a premium and simplified consumer product. Starting with the bathroom and kitchen, the company offers homeowners clients a predictable renovation with a dedicated designer, a pre-vetted general contractor, and access to its design system and suite of homeowner tools. For contractors and designers, the platform offers a flow of projects that have been scoped, measured, and vetted for feasibility.

Launched in 2018 for the New York City, the company has seen triple digit growth having completed hundreds of residential projects across New York City and now, Los Angeles. Block is also rolling out its second product: Kitchens, which uses LiDAR-enabled site surveying, 3D visualization, and quality design standards to reduce overall construction time and design and planning time.
