Kymeta Receives $30M Equity Investment From Hanwha Systems

Kymeta, a Redmond, Wash.-based communications company making mobile global, received a $30m investment from Hanwha Systems, a global solutions company that provides differentiated smart technologies in defense electronics and information infrastructure.

With the capital investment and upon regulatory approvals, HSC will also receive a seat on the Kymeta Board of Directors.

The company intends to use the funds to forther develop its next generation solutions, the Kymeta u8™and Kymeta Connect™, support increased unit production, an enhanced customer experience, and the ongoing development of its next generation capabilities.

HSC aims to support Kymeta’s metamaterial-based antenna technology and gain a presence in the Low Earth Orbit (LEO) antenna market.

The investment follows the commercial availability of Kymeta’s next-generation antenna, terminal, and services on November 30, 2020.

Led by Doug Hutcheson, Executive Chairman, Kymeta operates Lepton Global Solutions, which hosts satellite connectivity solutions and offers bundled solutions to the market based on technologies and tailored customer-centric services. These solutions in tandem with the company’s flat-panel satellite antenna, and Kymeta Connect™ services provide mobile connectivity on satellite and hybrid satellite-cellular networks to customers around the world. They are backed by U.S. and international patents and licenses.
