Chainalysis Raises Additional $13M to Expand Series B to $49M

Chainalysis, a NYC-based blockchain analysis company, raised an additional $13M to expand its Series B round to $49M.

Backers included Ribbit Capital and Sound Ventures. In conjunction with the funding, Sigal Mandelker, General Partner at Ribbit Capital and former Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, will join as an advisor to Chainalysis.

With the funds, which follows a $36M raise from Accel, Benchmark, MUFG and Sozo Ventures last year, the company will grow its government relationships and add software engineers, government sales, and other business roles.

Led by Michael Gronager, CEO and Co-Founder, Chainalysis is a blockchain analysis company providing data and analysis to government agencies, exchanges, and financial institutions across 40 countries. Its investigation and compliance tools, education, and support create transparency across blockchains so customers can engage with cryptocurrency. The company serves as a strategic partner to financial institutions, governments, and cryptocurrency businesses around the world, providing data, software, and expertise on sophisticated cryptocurrency crime and money laundering tactics, techniques, and procedures.
