Abstract Raises $30M in Series C Funding

AbstractAbstract, a San Francisco, CA-based design workflow platform for design teams to version, manage, and collaborate on design files, raised $30M in Series C funding.

The round, which brought total funding to-date to $54.2M, was led by Lightspeed Venture Partners with participation from existing investors Scale Venture Partners, Amplify Partners, and Cowboy Ventures. As part of this financing, Lightspeed partner Nakul Mandan will be joining Abstract’s board.

The company intends to use the funds to continue to build out its platform.

Founded in 2016 by Kevin Smith, CTO, and Josh Brewer, CEO, Abstract provides a git-enabled design workflow platform that allows teams to version design files, present work, request reviews, collect feedback, and give developers direct access to all specs—all from one place.
The company is also releasing several new features and product enhancements. Developer features like Inspect and Assets give customers the ability to view all design specifications and export the assets needed for implementation, without worrying about referencing an outdated design spec. And new enterprise admin features like SAML 2.0 & pre-built Okta integrations, account provisioning, and team management give organizations greater flexibility and security as they scale.
Since launching in July 2017, more than 5,000 design teams have adopted Abstract, including teams from Shopify, Cisco, Intuit, Spotify, OpenTable, Salesforce, and Instacart.
