MessageBird, an Amsterdam, The Netherlands-based cloud comms platform, raised $60m in Series A funding.
The round was led by Accel, with participation from Atomico and Y Combinator. Accel (Miles Clements) and Atomico (Hiro Tamura) joined MessageBird’s board in conjunction with the funding.
The company intends to use the funds to grow its teams around the world, raise brand awareness on a global scale, and strengthen its balance sheet.
Founded in 2011 by Robert Vis, Bob Violier, René Feiner and Ihab Matta, MessageBird provides SMS, Chat & Voice APIs to connect users to 7 billion phones worldwide and make contact efficient and accessible.
Today, over 15,000 global customers use the company’s products to have their messages and calls routed on their behalf.
MessageBird is a Y-Combinator alum.
