Fintech Startup Verse Raises $8.3M in Series A Funding

verseVerse, a Barcelona, Spain- and San Francisco, CA-based p2p mobile payments startup, raised $8.3m in Series A funding.

The round was led by Greycroft Partners, with participation from Spark Capital, eVentures and Boost VC.

The company, which has raised $10.1m in total funding to date, intends to use the funds to grow globally.

Led by Borja Rossell, Co-founder & CEO, Dario Nieuwenhuis, Co-founder & CTO, Alex Lopera, Co-founder & COO, and Albert Abelló, CMO, Verse provides an iOS and Android app that allows people to send and request money for free by registering with a mobile phone number and link the app with a card.
The service enables uses to enter an amount and tap send or request, select a contact or enter the mobile phone number of the recipient, and add a note that explains the payment or request and confirm the transaction.
