Talkspace (formerly Talktala), the NYC-based creator of the “Unlimited Messaging Therapy,” which enables patients to text with their professional, licensed therapist every day for a week or up to an entire year, raised $2.5m in funding.
Backers included Spark Capital and SoftBank Capital. In addition, AOL President of Video Ran Harnevo will join Talkspace’s board.
Co-founded by Head of Clinical Relations Roni Frank and and CEO Oren Frank, Talkspace reaches 50,000 patients who can anonymously write from their computers, iPhones or iPads to a professional therapist.
The company launched its updated website and new iOS app on May 5.
