Simplicissimus Book Farm, a Milan and near Ancona Italy-based provider of digital solutions for publishers, raised €2.5m in funding.
The round was led by Principia II, the vc fund managed by Principia Sgr, which committed €2m, with participation from Simplicissimus’ co-founders, who injected an additional €500k.
According to a written statement, the company intends to use the capital to expand software development, open an R&D facility in Catania, and expand in Turkey, Poland, Mexico and other LatAm countries.
Founded by CEO Antonio Tombolini in June 2006, Simplicissimus operates an ebook distribution platform ( STEALTH), which has been used over 400 ebook publishers and 100 magazines to date, a self-publishing platofrm (Narcissus), which was launched in 2012 and already used by over 1.000 authors, and also provides mobile solutions.
