ScaleArc Closes $12.3M Funding

ScaleArc, a Santa Clara, CA-based database infrastructure software firm, closed a $12.3m funding.

The round was led by Accel Ventures, with participation from existing backers  Trinity Ventures and Nexus Ventureswhich invested in ScaleArc in 2011 (read here).

The company intends to use the capital to invest in sales and marketing for global expansion, as well as to conntinue to develop its products.

Led by Varun Singh, Founder & CEO, ScaleArc aims to simplify the way database environments are deployed and managed. Its ScaleArc iDB software provides visibility into all database traffic with real-time SQL analytics and delivers patent-pending SQL-NoSQL hybrid caching engine, which allows applications to use a NoSQL cache without any code changes or drivers.
The software supports MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle databases and is available as software on any x86-64 server, as a virtual appliance on any x86 compatible hypervisor, or as a turn-key appliance.
It is cloud-ready and available via service providers such as the Amazon AWS Marketplace,GoGrid, Joyent, Hyperwiser, Liquid Web Hosting and NephoScale.
Customers already include Demand Media, Disney UTV, KIXEYE, Sazze (dealspl.us), Flipkart, Weather Decision Technologies and others.

The company is expanding, with several job openings in the US and India in Sales & Marketing, and Research & Development departments (read here).
