Nuzzel Raises $1.7M in Funding

Nuzzel, a San Francisco, CA-based social news aggregator, has raised $1.7m in funding.

Backers include Dave McClure (500 Startups), Eric Ries (The Lean Startup), Zachary Bogue (Data Collective), George Zachary (Charles River Ventures), Ronny Conway (Andreessen Horowitz), and Jeff Clavier and Stephanie Palmeri (SoftTech VC).

The company intends to use the funding to develop the service and make it available for iOS.

Founded in 2012 by Jonathan Abrams (the cofounder of social network Friendster), Nuzzel aggregates relevant news stories from users’ feed and delivers it to them on a dashboard and in their email box. It also features a “news you may have missed” section, which shows news shared from an extended network on various topics.
The site is currently available in beta (people can sign in via Twitter).
