AgBiome LLC, a Research Triangle Park, NC-based company leveraging the plant microbiome for novel agricultural pest solutions, secured $65m in Series C financing.
The investment group included:
– The University of Texas Investment Management Company (UTIMCO),
– Fidelity Management and Research Company,
– Polaris Partners,
– ARCH Venture Partners,
– Innotech Advisers,
– Pontifax Global Food and Agriculture Technology Fund, and
– Monsanto Growth Ventures.
The company intends to use the funds to bring its crop protection products and solutions to the market.
Led by Scott Uknes, AgBiome discovers and develops innovative biological and trait products for crop protection. Its proprietary Genesis™ discovery platform allows the company to capture and screen the most diverse and microbial collection for agriculturally relevant applications, coupled to screens for insect, disease and nematode control.
Through its commercial subsidiary, AgBiome Innovations, Inc., the company develops and sells proprietary crop protection solutions. The first of these, Howler™, is a biological fungicide for disease control in a broad variety of specialty crops and the turf and ornamental markets.
