Busbud Raises $11M in Series B Funding

Busbud, a Montreal, Canada-based online marketplace for travellers to shop for and book intercity bus tickets on over 1.4 million bus routes worldwide, closed an US$11m series B funding (approximately CAD$14m).

The round was led by iNovia Capital with participation from new investors Teralys, Claridge, Plaza Ventures, Erik Blachford (former Expedia CEO) and Philippe Vimard (previous eDreams CTO/COO) as well as Real Ventures. In conjunction with the funding, Blachford and Vimard joined Busbud’s board along with Magaly Charbonneau of iNovia.

The company will use the funds to accelerate technology development, further grow the team and accelerate geographic expansion.

Co-founded in 2011 by longtime friends LP Maurice (CEO), Michael Gradek (CTO) and Frédéric Thouin (Chief Product Officer), Busbud is an online marketplace that enables global travellers to shop for and book intercity bus tickets on over 1.4 million bus routes worldwide. Available in 11 languages, the company’s secure booking website and app offer the ability to search, compare and buy tickets from over 1,300 bus companies in 16,000 cities across 75+ countries, supporting transactions in 30 currencies.

Busbud currently has 35 employees.
