Pig.gi Raises $2.3M in Seed Funding

Pig.gi, a Mexico City-based startup that provides an Android lock screen app that lets users earn free mobile airtime, raised $2.3m in seed funding.

Backers included Archipelago Global and other investors.

The company will use the capital to continue scaling its mobile airtime platform in Latin America and develop new ways to make internet connectivity more accessible in emerging markets.

Co-led by Isaac and Joel (CEO) Phillips, Pig.gi provides an app that allows users to interact with incentivized actions prompted on their phone’s lock screen to earn virtual coins, which can be redeemed for mobile airtime. Lock screen actions include surveys, app downloads, ad views, and other micro-interactions that generate real-time market intelligence for businesses, while giving users connectivity in exchange for direct feedback and insights.
The app allows global brands looking to understand emerging markets to unlock new insights about the trends, preferences, habits, and needs of local consumers.
Pig.gi, which is currently available on Android, has already gained early traction with brands including ABinBev, Coca-Cola, Rappi, Dafiti, Diageo, Provident, AT&T and Dish as well as renowned agencies, Havas and Mindshare.
