CoContest, a Rome, Italy-founded and now San Francisco, CA-based interior design startup, raised $1.89m in funding.
The round was led by Draper Associates, which committed $1m, with participation – via the conversion of previously subscribed notes – from Milan listed LVenture Group ($120k), Atlante Seed ($250k), 500 Startups ($100k) and some business angels.
The company will use the funds to continue to increase the headcount and expand operations worldwide.
Co-Founded by CEO Filippo Schiano Di Pepe, COO Federico Schiano Di Pepe (who has been selected by Forbes in the European 30 Under 30 list in 2015), and Head of Sales Alessandro Rossi, CoContest is a crowdsourcing platform dedicated to interior design projects. It enables people to launch contests to create and restyle their houses and offices. Users can visualize all of the offers and interact with each of the designers for the entire duration of the contest. At the end of it, the winner is selected to receive a money prize.
The company, which has been incubated in Rome-based Luiss Enlabs, and then accelerated at Startup Chile and 500 Startups, currently has a team of 9 with plans to add 5 people soon.
