Freshdesk Acquires Chat App and Bot Maker Chatimity

chatimity-freshdeskFreshdesk, a global provider of cloud based enterprise customer support software, acquired Chatimity, a Karnataka, India-based maker of a chat app and bot.

The amount of the deal was not disclosed.

Started out as a social chat application aimed at helping people discover others based on locality and interests, the company has grown to over 3M users across various platforms leveraging ML and AI solutions including a social reputation system for automated community moderation and spam detection.
The company then entered its chat tech into a platform to expand use cases to enterprise sales and support and started to build chatbots specialized in verticals like travel and e-commerce.

As part of Freshdesk, the company’s team will be working on building its chat offerings. Its social chat will continue to receive support until Dec 1, 2016.

Launched in 2010 and headquartered in San Francisco, Freshdesk provides a cloud-based customer support software that enables companies of all sizes to support customers through email, chat, phone, mobile apps, websites, forums and social media channels. The company, which is backed by Accel Partners, Google Capital and Tiger Global, also has offices in Chennai, London, Berlin and Sydney.
