Avegant Closes $24M Series B Funding Round

avegantAvegant, a Redwood City/based technology company advancing a vivid reality near-eye display, closed a $24M Series B funding round.

The round was led by Lian Luo (Hangzhou Liaison Interactive Information Technology Co., Ltd) with particiupation from previous investors Intel Capital and NHN Investment as well as new investor The Bunting Family Fund.

The company intends to use the funds to accelerate product development of its Retinal Imaging technology, and to broadly launch Glyph, its flagship personal media player.

Led by Joerg Tewes, CEO, Avegant is developing and expects to ship the first Glyph units by the end of 2015. Developed and patented on micromirror display technology, Glyph combines vivid video display with premium audio in a wearable form factor.
The team is also developing its Retinal Imaging Technology for use in future personal display products.
