Pyreos Raises $4M in Funding

Pyreos Limited, a Edinburgh, United Kingdom-based developer of ultra‐low power consumption infrared sensor technology for consumer, industrial and environmental sensor products, raised $4m in funding.

The round was led by Robert Bosch Venture Capital GmbH, Seraphim Capital, Siemens Technology Accelerator and the Scottish Investment Bank (SIB), the investment arm of Scottish Enterprise.

The company intends to use the funds for international expansion.

Founded in 2007 and led by Jeff Wright, CEO, Pyreos has developed high performance MEMs‐based sensors that enable a diverse range of innovative new products in consumer electronics, industrial and environmental settings. Applications include gesture sensors, oil sensors for wind‐turbine monitoring, laser measurement sensors as well as gas sensors and energy efficiency products.
The company is a technology spin‐out from Siemens, and has over 100 patents and applications protecting its thin film pyroelectric infrared sensor technology.
