SeedInvest, a New York City-based equity-based crowdfunding platform, closed $1m in funding.
The round was led by the Jumpstart New Jersey Angel Network with participation from other individual investors.
The company intends to use the funds to accelerate the growth of the platform and to develop new features.
Launched in February of 2013 by CEO Ryan Feit, SeedInvest is an equity-based crowdfunding platform that connects accredited investors to start-ups and small businesses seeking funding. Tools include virtual due diligence sessions, investment dashboards, an advanced data room and virtual boardroom features.
It has attracted more than 650 accredited investors and over 450 companies have applied to raise funds. Backed companies include StearClear, DietBet ($308k) and LISNR.
