One97 Communications Limited, a New Delhi, India-based mobile Internet company, has secured a “significant” amount of funding from SAP Ventures.
The company intends to use this capital infusion to continue to expand its operations in the emerging mobile markets. It currently employs over 1,000 people in regional offices in Mumbai, Chennai, Dhaka, Lagos and Dubai.
Already backed by Intel Capital, SAIF Partners and Silicon Valley Bank, and led by chairman and managing director Vijay Shekhar Sharma, One97 has a large deployment of telecom application cloud platform delivering mobile content (Inapaq), advertising (Oorja Mobile Advertising) and commerce services (Paytm) to mobile consumers.
It also invests in early stage mobile companies out of its initiative One97 Mobility Fund (OMF).
