CustomMade Secures $1.15M Angel Funding

CustomMade, a Cambridge, MA-based on-line marketplace for custom services, has secured $1.15m in an angel round of funding from three local investors.
According to a press release, an angel investor led the round with a $500,000 commitment.
The proceeds from the financing will be used to expand marketing efforts and increase staff for Web site sales and development.
CustomMade provides custom makers such as metalworkers, glass makers, woodworkers, and home remodelers, with the needed tools to reach a global audience for their services. For artisans and other providers of custom services, the Web site operates as a highly-visited window of their work, a local directory, and a marketing resource. For consumers and members of the design trade, CustomMade is an online source for locating a custom maker.
Purchased in 2009 by Mike Salguero and Seth Rosen, CustomMade today counts on a community of over 1,200 paying custom artisans.
