AlixLabs Raises USD1M in Seed Funding

AlixLabs, a Lund, Sweden-baed semiconductor startup, raised USD 1M in seed funding.

The round was led by Almi Invest, which is investing close to SEK 3m, with participation from NHL professionals Michael, Alexander and William Nylander.

The company intends to use the funds for product development and validation of the APS-technology.

Led by Dr. Jonas Sundqvist, CEO, and Dr. Dmitry Suyatin, CTO, AlixLabs is advancing a new method for manufacturing semiconductor components, which build up the computer chips found in virtually all electronic products, such as smartphones, servers, game consoles, computers, and cars.

The company’s method for manufacturing semiconductor components has a high degree of packing, which eliminates several steps in the manufacturing process. The method makes the components cheaper and less resource-intensive to manufacture and can open up a new path for a more sustainable mass production of electronics. It also makes it possible to manufacture small semiconductor components in an accurate way, which means that also smaller production facilities in, for example, Europe will be able to manufacture the components with manageable investments. Today, basically all production of leading edge semiconductors takes place in the USA and Asia, mainly in Taiwan and South Korea.
