SunCulture Raises $27M in Series B Funding

SunCulture, a Nairobi, Kenya-based solar irrigation startup, raised $27m in Series B funding.

Backers included InfraCo Africa, Acumen Fund, Reed Hastings, and Eric Schmidt.

The company intends to use the funds to expand operations and its development efforts.

Led by Samir Ibrahim, CEO, At SunCulture leverages off-grid solar technology to provide smallholder farmers with reliable access to water, irrigation, lighting, and mobile charging, all of that with a single system. Its products combine solar water pumping technology with high-efficiency drip irrigation so farmers can grow more while spending less. The product packages include everything that is needed to get started, including a consultation, installation services, training, and ongoing customer support.

The company also offers a Pay-As-You-Grow option that allows customers to pay in small monthly installments.
