Postman Acquires Orbit

Postman, a San Francisco, CA-based API collaboration company, acquired Orbit, a San Francisco, CA-based provider of a community growth platform for developer companies.

The amount of the deal was not disclosed.

With the acquisition, Postman will expand its offerings.

Led by Patrick Woods, Orbit helps developer companies manage and grow their communities across forums, chat platforms, social channels, and more, providing insights, automations, and engagement capabilities. Founded in 2019, the company was backed by Andreessen Horowitz, Coatue, Heavybit, and many others.

At Postman, the Orbit team will build community features into Postman’s API Network to help create and scale connections between API builders and the developers that use them.

Led by Abhinav Asthana, Postman provides an API collaboration platform used by more than 30 million developers and 500,000 organizations, including 98% of the Fortune 500. It gives teams of all sizes and functions, the ability to rapidly iterate on API development, elevate the quality of their APIs, and extend their API workflows for large-scale initiatives.

The company, which also has offices in Bangalore and Tokyo, is privately held, with funding from Battery Ventures, BOND, Coatue, CRV, Insight Partners, and Nexus Venture Partners.
