EigenLayer, a Seattle, WA-based blockchain infrastructure startup, raised $100m in Series B funding.
The round was led by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z Crypto).
The company intends to use the funds to finalize its platform.
Founded in 2021 and led by CEO Sreeram Kannan, EigenLayer is advancing an Ethereum-related technology known as “restaking.” The company provides blockchain developers with access to the secure and decentralized network that powers Ethereum, which enables them to easily launch new protocols and applications with strong assurances of reliability and scalability.
An example of a service built on EigenLayer that benefits from renting crypto-economic security and decentralized validators from the Ethereum network is EigenDA. EigenDA is a secure and decentralized data availability layer that enables Ethereum developers to achieve high transaction speeds and low transaction costs that have never before been possible on Ethereum.
EigenLayer had previously raised $50m in a round led by Blockchain Capital.
