Clairity Technology, a Los Angeles, CA-based company developing systems for carbon dioxide removal, raised $6.75M in Seed funding.

The round was co-led by Lowercarbon Capital and Initialized Capital.

The company intends to use the funds to enable low-cost, scalable technology for carbon dioxide removal. (expand operations and development efforts.)

Founded in September 2022 by Glen Meyerowitz, Clairity Technology Clairity develops systems that can remove gigatons of CO2 for durable sequestration through accelerated natural chemistry in engineered systems, with lower energy requirements and infrastructure investments than alternative methods. The company focuses on scalable, direct air capture (DAC) systems that utilize low-carbon intensity energy to remove and durably sequester CO2 from the atmosphere, aiming to remove billions of tons of CO2. To validate this new technology, Clairity worked with CarbonBuilt, whose technology leverages atmospheric CO2 for the production of ultra-low carbon concrete products which reduce embodied carbon 70-100%+. The companies completed a demonstration project in which Clairity’s process captured CO2 and fed it directly into CarbonBuilt’s process. There, it chemically reacted with CarbonBuilt’s low-carbon binder (an alternative to high-carbon cement) and became permanently sequestered in the finished concrete block.
