Nuada, a Belfast, Northern Ireland-based carbon capture company, raised an additional £3.4M in funding.

BGF made the investment in the company, which added to a £4.5m round co-led by the Clean Growth Fund and nearly £3m of grant-funded projects that Nuada has secured from UKRI and the Department of Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ).

Led by Dr Conor Hamill, and Dr Jose Casaban, Nuada builds energy-efficient filtration machines that capture CO2 from industrial off-gases, empowering emitters in hard-to-abate sectors to reduce their carbon footprint with minimum impact on their bottom line.

The company is working with cement manufacturers (Buzzi Unicem, Heidelberg Materials and Cementir Holding) and is currently deploying a plant at Buzzi Unicem’s Monselice plant in Northern Italy.

The funding will support the construction of an additional pilot plant at an energy-from-waste facility in the UK, which will showcase the versatility of Nuada’s technology.
