Konscious Foods Raises $26M in Seed Funding

Konscious Foods, a Vancouver, BC, Canada-based plant-based seafood brand, closed a $26m Seed financing round.

Backers included Protein Industries Canada, Zynik Capital and Walter Group, among others.

The company intends to use the funds to grow retail and food service businesses, support operations at its production facility in Vancouver, Canada and deploy marketing initiatives for nationwide retail launches.

Founded by Yves Potvin, Konscious Foods offers a range of plant-based seafood products, including sushi rolls, onigiri stuffed rice snacks and poke bowls, that are now available at fine retailers across the U.S. and Canada (including all Whole Foods Market locations). Its recipes contain ingredients that are Non-GMO Project verified, gluten-free, 100% plant-based, organic where possible, and free from carrageenan and titanium dioxide.

The company expects to be available for purchase in over 4,500 stores nationwide by the end of the year.
