RideTandem Raises £2.3M in Funding

RideTandem

RideTandem, a London, UK-based mobility-as-a-service startup providing sustainable transport, raised £2.3M in funding.

The round, which brought the total amount to £5M, was led by Blackfinch Ventures with participation from FirstMonday VC and Rainmaking Impact and additional backers through the Seedrs investment platform.

The company intends to use the funds to expand operations and its business reach.

Founded by Alex Shapland-Howes – previously managing director of education charity Future First – with former Global Innovation Fund investment director Tatseng Chiam and former Hireup CTO Huw McLeod, RideTandem specializes in mobility outside cities and towns. Working with local transport companies, it provides shared transport solutions that connect people in transport poverty with jobs they would otherwise be unable to get to. It offers two mobile apps, one for passengers and one for drivers. Its proprietary dispatch system includes driver and fleet management features and a driver app, and the company also works flexibly with transport partners to integrate with their existing systems while providing high-quality fully-managed customer service with 24/7 availability and support for digital ticketing. Employers benefit from a dashboard showing – among other data – attendance, allowing them to adjust shifts accordingly. Employers using it include DPD, Lidl, Next, Royal Mail, Direct Table Foods, and staffing agencies Reed, First Call Contract Services, and Everest People Solutions.
