A team of London-based entrepreneurs have highlighted the ongoing problem with the UK boiler industry and have set up a new brand to help consumers.
Warmable.co.uk launched in May this year, connecting businesses and households with more than 1,000 professional engineers and installers across the UK.
The entrepreneurial duo of Richard Speer and Daniel Tannenbaum highlighted the problem of more than 1.75 million boilers being installed every year in the UK, costing anywhere between £1,500 to £5,000 for the purchase and full installation.
“The problem is that when your boiler is on the brink, this means no hot water for you and your kids and it becomes a complete state of panic trying to get a new boiler and engineer to come check it out,” explains Tannenbaum.
“What happens if you may find yourself paying way over the odds for a new boiler and fitting, because you are so desperate to get someone over and get it sorted,” he says.
“Meanwhile, the average consumer or business has no concept of how much this should all cost and if they had taken time to compare rates and find the right engineer, it could have saved them thousands.”
“And this doesn’t include just the purchase or a new combi or oil boiler and its installation,” adds Speer.
“You have additional costs too such as boiler insurance (around £100 per year) and an annual boiler service (also around £100 per year).”
“And in our current cost of living crisis,” he continues, “households do not have thousands of pounds spare to fix their boilers and we need to help people save wherever we can. We know that people will respond well when we show them how much they are saving and this is the focus of our new business.”
